All Quiet
I haven't been blogging here too much. I have been hard at work on Blog Carnival, and I notice I only have so much blog in me.
I spent the past week with my cousin Helen and other family in Knoxville, and spent a relaxing few days chatting (and blogging) with my cousin-in-law Glenn, the Instapundit.

Anti-Blog Rant
Sometimes, you read a fabulous rant, and it makes your heart sing.
Now, if you really want a lesson in what makes an artful rant, you should check out Lexicon of Musical Invective, by Nicolas Slonimsky. There you can find music critics skewering Stravinsky (and many others) with language you just don't hear every day.
What made me think abou that was this. While I was blogging, I came upon this article on kuro5shin, entitled Why your Movable Type blog must die (note - this blog is written using Movable Type, a system I've grown to love).
You are all pretentious twats
Every last one of you. You're all latte-sipping, iMac-using, suburban-living tertiary-industry-working WASPs who offer absolutely no new insights on anything whatsoever apart from maybe one specialist field if we're lucky. Most of you think that you're writing original content and that you're making a contribution by licensing your spewings under Creative Commons "Some Rights Reserved" licences, just because it's the hip thing to do. You think you know all there is to say about blogging because you understand the concept of HTML and CSS, but the horrible truth is that 40% of you are all using the same shitty default layout. Then you take pictures of yourselves looking pensive or making vague allusions to mythology.
It is quite brilliant. You must read the whole thing.
Of course, the only appropriate response is to blog about it. Over and over again.

Shameless Plug - New York Festival of Song
The New York Festival of Song, of which I'm chairman, is having its Spring Gala benefit on May 3.
You want to come to this. We'll be throwing a fabulous party in honor of Hal Prince, producer/director extraordinaire. Brent Barrett, Jason Danielly, Mary Cleere Haran, Marin Mazzie will join the inimitable Steven Blier for an intimate musicale at Weill (Carnegie) Hall, with supper following next door at Shelly's.
Since you're reading my blog, I feel I know you well enough to slip you an exclusive invitation. Click here. Read it.

Blogs and Carnivals
Derek posts the question in Marketing Mania, What is it with blogs and carnivals?
So, I guess carnivals are just one more thing to try and keep up with in this world of mass information.
Of course, BlogCarnival.com is the ultimate outcome. Among the offerings, Holiday Gifts at Blog Carnival and A Consumer Reports..., containing a wide variety of product opinions.
There are a ton more (just try googling "blogcarnival.com"). All in all, wacky and wide variety of blogs.
