A very good wine

Spent the day yesterday at two wineries, Trabucchi and Speri, with Claudio from La Dolce Vita.

Chiara Speri showed me a 2003 Amarone that seemed to have wonderful potential. I'll set aside a couple bottles, and drink when it is ready, say, around 2013 or so.

I put a note in my calendar to remind me.

La Gondoliera

So this is a bit unusual... We are in Venice, where there is one, and only one, female Gondoliera. Alexandra has created a bit of a stir in the exclusively male world of i gondolieri. We have found her, and she has taken us on a twilight cruise through the canals. Some day, this will be ordinario, but not yet.

Hanging with the Karyatids

I'm in Athens with my posse to start a much needed vacation. We're going to get on the cruise ship tomorrow.

I'm not sure how much internet access we'll have, but I'll try and post a picture or two.
